Top 5 Ways To Deal With Any Types Of Headache In Te Puke

Chiropractic Te Puke Bay of Plenty Top 5 Ways To Deal With Headaches

Research suggests that there are over 200 different types of headaches. At Te Puke Chiropractic, we have many patients who come into the Te Puke chiropractic clinic because they are fed up with taking medication (sometimes daily) for migraines, tension, sinus, and/or cluster headaches.

The fact is, no headache is normal. It’s a sign of physical, chemical, or emotional dysfunction within the body.

The good news is, at Te Puke Chiropractic, we have helped thousands of people over the years get major relief from these often debilitating conditions.

Here Are Our Top 5 Ways To Naturally Deal With Any Type Of Headache:

1. Drink Good Quality Water
This is not rocket science. Many headaches are caused or contributed to by dehydration. However, we would like to draw attention to the quality of the water you are drinking. Many bottled waters are lacking in the necessary minerals for good health and tap water is often laden with low levels of unwanted chemicals that can build up in your system over time.

That’s why high-quality, well-filtered water needs to be a priority for those suffering from any type of headache. We are distributors for Kangen water which is a high-level, alkalizing water machine that our family has been using for years with significant benefits. Feel free to reach out to us if you’d like more information on these amazing machines.

2. Reduce Caffeine and Sugar
A small amount of caffeine can actually be beneficial to headache sufferers because it opens up blood vessels and removes pressure. However, too much caffeine has the opposite effect and can become a trigger for headaches.

Given that caffeine is often accompanied by sugar, we have included them together. Refined sugar generally has zero health benefits and plays a major contributory role in creating chemical dysfunction within the body.

Both of these products can be addictive and for some, no amount of caffeine or sugar can be tolerated. Pay attention and listen to your body, it knows what it needs.

3. Take Good Quality Magnesium
Magnesium is absolutely essential to our health as it supports many functions within the body, including our muscles and nerves, blood pressure, and blood sugar levels (to name a few). Magnesium has a relaxing effect, which is why it’s often recommended for constipation, sore muscles, or headaches.

However, not all Magnesiums are created equal, which is why it’s important to talk to your chiropractor or other qualified health professional about the best quality product for you.

4. Do This Specific Neck Exercise
The biggest problem we see in headache sufferers at Te Puke Chiropractic is a loss of the normal C-shaped curve in their necks. The normal structure of the neck should be similar to the shape of a banana when looking at the spine from the side.

Unfortunately, whiplashes, falls, sports injuries, sitting and/or looking down at your mobile phone screen for extended periods of time, all contribute to the loss of that C-shaped curve, which can put pressure on the nerves and cause headaches.

To help restore the correct curve in your neck and take pressure off the nerves, we recommend the following exercise:

Firmly roll up a towel at home (so it’s 10cm in diameter) and lay on your back on a firm surface with the towel along the top of your shoulders. The towel should support your neck and tilt your head back. This may feel uncomfortable, to begin with, so slowly work your way up to 5 minutes per day to help restore the neck back to its normal curve.

This exercise is great when a headache is present because it approximates the normal position of the neck, thus easing any nerve pressure.

5. Have Your Spine Checked by a Chiropractor
Time and time again, we have patients come into Te Puke Chiropractic Clinic suffering from all different types of headaches. And almost without fail, these patients have misaligned vertebrae in their necks, pinching and affecting the nerves leading to their heads.

Chiropractic is solely focused on getting to the root cause of tension or dysfunction within the body. By removing pressure on the nervous system, through light and specific adjustments, the strike rate on headaches is extremely successful.

So, if you are a sufferer of any type of headache and you’re sick of taking pain medication monthly, weekly, or even daily… we highly recommend taking a multi-pronged approach to your health by implementing all 5 of these solutions.

Ask yourself this: what would it mean to you to live your life headache FREE?

For the majority of people, young and old, checked in our clinic, there has either been a significant overall improvement in their health or it has completely solved the problem they presented with. If you or someone you know is suffering call us at (07) 573 9988 for a complimentary consultation and to set up a time to have your spine and nervous system checked.
